What would you do if someone broke into your car? Check the vehicle to find what’s missing and file a police report. Right? Well, not if you are this young man who decided to take revenge instead.
He told the forum, “Scumbag neighbor broke into my vehicle and stole my stuff, so I returned the favor.”
Here’s his story.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The original poster (OP) rented a duplex in his early twenties. His neighbor was a wannabe gangster type.
WHAT DID OP’S NEIGHBOR DO?

OP’s neighbor made the mistake of breaking into OP’s vehicle one night.
“I had a small SUV with a removable soft top, so the neighbor figured it would be easy pickings just to peel back the top and help himself to my stereo, amplifier, CDs, and some other misc stuff,” explains OP.
OP KNEW WHO THE CULPRIT WAS

OP discovered the break-in early in the morning after it occurred. “I knew for certain who the culprit was. We were not in a heavily populated area, and my neighbor was well-known for theft,” says OP.
WHAT DID OP DO?

OP waited around for his neighbor to leave his place. When the opportunity arose, he went around the back of the house and looked through the bedroom window to find his stuff on the floor.
OP instinctively tried the window, and as luck would have it, the sash went right up. Bingo! He hopped through and quickly surveyed the items lying around.
OP DECIDED THIS WAS THE RIGHT TIME FOR REVENGE

It occurred to OP that he could get some excellent revenge here if he played it right. So rather than recoup his stuff and wind up in a fight over it, he borrowed a marker and proceeded to write his name on all his property and a few choice items of his neighbor just for good measure.
OP then climbed back out the window and waited. When his neighbor finally came back, OP called for some police presence.
“I explained to them how my vehicle got robbed, and I knew it was the neighbor due to seeing through the window,” says OP.
OP AND THE POLICE WHEN TO THE NEIGHBOR’S HOUSE

“We knock on his door, and I can still remember the look on his face seeing me and the cop standing there. He was not even close to ready for the encounter and almost certainly had drugs on him, so he was very cooperative given the circumstances,” says OP.
OP politely explained, “I know you broke into my vehicle, and I need you to return my stuff immediately, or I will have to press charges.”
OP FINALLY GOT HIS REVENGE ON HIS NEIGHBOR

OP’s neighbor went and retrieved OP’s things, and OP pointed out his name written on them to the officer. “I asked about my other stuff while he looked back, puzzled and dumbfounded. I rattled off the other couple of “choice items” of his that I also put my name on earlier. The look on his face while he handed over his stuff to me while the cop was standing there was priceless,” says OP.

GOAT LEVEL

“GOAT 100%. This is the way! WINNING! All of these phrases work.”
TOP-LEVEL

“You are at another level. I bow to your greatness!”
OPEN AND SHUT CASE

“Amazing that the cop didn’t question that everything, including his car stereo, was nicely labeled with his name.”
PETTY REVENGE ISN’T WORTH IT

“One of the first things that pops into my head is – This guy is his neighbor, he knows where he lives, and is a known thief. He’s going to get a rebound. Petty revenge isn’t worth that risk.”
PERFECT REVENGE

“I laughed out loud, for real. Perfect revenge, petty or not.”
